The need
Brittany is a sole artist and the owner of 58 Creativity. Her focus is her designs, as products and as animated assets that she and her clients use online. She already wears a lot of hats. Sometimes she needs to delegate and get extra support, so she can stay in the flow of creating her products and designs. That is where I jump in, whenever she needs help.
I take on a wide variety of work for her:
- making her assets pattern-ready
- corrective design feedback
- data feeds and website fixes
- social media flyer posts and banners
- product design, a workbook and school supplies design
- illustrative assets, and many more
A lot of it is composition work. Brittany gives me the pictures she already has, the information and a visual wishlist, and I put them together for her.
The process
I saw her blog post "Freelance Graphic Design Assistant (Learning Opportunity)" from September 13, 2025, and on a whim I applied. 58 Creativity is a Deaf-owned business, and the role was product layout in InDesign and Illustrator, for someone fluent in ASL. I started working with her at the end of September 2025, and it is still an ongoing project.
Our teamwork is lovely and soft. It is collaborative, and it always keeps her branding in mind.
The hardest and most interesting part was the massive product catalog I built for her in 2025: 188 products across 39 pages. It was very heavy data work, and I made sure everything stayed within her brand design. It took me a long time. But it was nice to take a break from drawing for a bit and focus on something more concrete: data entry, with a touch of graphic design. Overall, the challenge was bearable. I just had to make sure the information was correct and everything worked as expected.
The result
I made the catalog to get ready for the holiday season that was coming up at the time, in late 2025. My support has helped Brittany keep a stronger focus and put out more work for her audience.
I really enjoy working with her. Working with Brittany helped me rediscover my love for graphic design. Now I want to do more graphic design projects, with a clear vision of what works well for me.
